In the Old Testament, Job is a man who, in a matter of a few hours, loses everything he held dear. Sons, daughters, wealth and possessions were all taken from him. Job and his wife were left … alone. How did he respond? We are told, “Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fellon the ground and worshiped” (Job 1:20). Even in the face of catastrophic loss, Job continued to turn his heart to the living God.
